中部地方のある葬儀社様で、葬儀担当者のコンテストがありました。
今年は私もオブザーバーとして、参加させていただきました。
その様子をご報告いたします。
 
この担当者コンテストは、すでに数年開催をしています。
事務局の方々が前日から準備をした会場には、出場者、お客様の夫婦役、
審査員、付き添いの先輩、オブザーバーなど40～50人が集いました。
コンテストには、キーマンとなるお客様役も大切で、
数年間お客様役をしてきたベテランが招集されました。
コンテストの前にはそのお客様役のスタッフも、
入念な打ち合わせがなされていました。
お客様宅を模したレイアウトや、言葉を聞き取るマイク設置、
審査基準等など、準備は完ぺきです。
コンテストには9名の現役担当者が出場しました。
皆さんは、ある程度の準備をして臨んでいます。
緊張の中にも自信を持って進めているスタッフもいましたが、
緊張は極限に達するようで、しどろもどろの説明をする人もいて、
見学の私もドキドキするシーンがありました。
進め方のシナリオは決められていますが、
お客様役からどのような質問が来るかは分かりません。
知識はもちろんのこと必要ですが、この雰囲気にのまれずに、
とっさの時にも落ち着いて行動できることが大きな勝因のようです。
そしてもう一つコンテストに必要なものは、審査基準の明確化です。
最終的には、審査員の考え方や「葬儀担当者とは、どうあるべきか」という
葬祭理念が、審査員には求められます。
測定値では測りきれない「人」の行動や言動をどのように判断するかは、
審査する人間側にゆだねられる能力です。
担当者コンテストは、審査員も試される、
とても貴重な勉強の機会であると感じました。
 
コンテストであるがゆえに、時間制限があることは仕方が無いことです。
しかし、時間内に終わらせようと早口になったり、
お客様役とのやり取りに機械的なものを感じる人もいました
出場した担当者たちにとっては、コンテストの実践に価値があるのではなく、その日を迎えるために勉強を積んだことや、コンテストに参加しようとする
意欲そのものに大きな価値があると思いました。
又、「コンテストで優秀だったからそれでいい」というものでもありません。
多少しゃべり方がゆっくりでも、考え込むことがあっても、
目の前にいるお客様を心の底から思いながら受付をすることの方が、
いい受注受付だからです。
この葬儀社様にとっては、担当者コンテストを数年間積み重ねてきた経験が、
大きな財産であると感じました。
コンテストを企画する事務局の皆さんの大いなる意欲を感じた1日でした。
これからも是非続けていただき、担当者のレベル向上を目指してください。
